Green Acres Garden Stand started with a simple backyard garden and a love for growing fresh food.
What began as sharing extra produce with family and neighbors slowly turned into a roadside stand filled with seasonal vegetables, fresh herbs, homemade jams, and small-batch goods. Today, we still grow and make everything ourselves right here in Walker, Louisiana.
We’re proud to offer fresh, local food and create a place where our community can stop by, shop local, and feel at home.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple — to grow fresh food, make quality homemade goods, and share them with our community in a way that feels personal, honest, and local.
We believe good food brings people together, and we’re proud to provide fresh-picked produce and homemade favorites straight from our garden to your table.
Proud supporters of Cajun Navy 2016
We're connected to the disaster relief organization serving communities across Louisiana and beyond.
What We Grow
Every season brings something different, and that’s part of the fun.
Some weeks the shelves are overflowing, and some weeks the tomatoes disappear before lunchtime. Here’s a little of what you’ll usually find around the stand.
Tomatoes
#Summer
Big Reds, Cherokee Carbons, and green tomatoes for pickling. Vine-ripened on our land.
Cucumbers
#Summer
Slicing and pickling varieties, crisp and cool. Picked young for the best snap.
Squash
#Summer
Tender, sweet summer squash, picked young for the best flavor.
Zucchini
#Summer
Garden-grown zucchini, perfect for sauteing, grilling, or summer bread.
Eggplant
#Summer
Glossy, deep-purple eggplants. Firm flesh, mild flavor, ready for the skillet.
Peppers
#Summer
Banana, gypsy, and hot peppers. Mild to fiery, whatever the season gives us.
Peas
#Spring
Sweet shelling peas, picked at peak tenderness. Best eaten the day you buy them.
Kale & Brassicas
#Fall
Hearty greens like kale and cousins from the cabbage family, grown cool-weather strong.
Blackberries
#Summer
Plump, sun-warmed berries from our own brambles. Limited each week.
Watermelon
#Summer
Classic field watermelons with deep-red flesh and old-fashioned sweetness.
Cantaloupe
#Summer
Juicy, ripe cantaloupes. Also available freeze-dried for snacking year-round.
Figs
